KSP Investiating Burglaries in Lyon County
Date of News Release: 11/12/2010
(Lyon County, KY) Kentucky State Police are investigating a series of thefts and burglaries in the Suwanee area of Lyon County. During the early morning hours, persons unknown broke into the Kuttawa Fire District Building #2. Once inside, the perpetrators cut a hole through an interior wall to gain access to the offices of the Lyon County Water Districts. Cash receipts from water bills were taken during the burglary, though the amount is yet to be determined.
In what are being investigated as related crimes, the Lyon County Sheriffs Office received report of a similar burglary at the nearby Ferrellgas propane facility on US62, and a third theft, from a vending machine at The Country Gentleman Flea Market, was reported to KSP later in the day.
While the KSP were investigating the Suwanee break-ins, the Livingston County Sheriffs Department were on the scene of multiple burglaries on US62 in Lake City, including thefts at Knoth's BBQ, Candy Land, and a laundromat. All burglaries are believed to be related and being investigated so. KSP also received information that a burglary at Kentucky Farm Bureau office in Princeton was perpetrated in a similar fashion as the Lyon and Livingston thefts, and may be related.
Individuals with any information regarding these crimes are asked to contact the Kentucky State Police at 270-856-3721 or 1-800-222-5555. Callers may remain anonymous.
