KSP Sergeant Receives Award
Date of News Release: 08/11/2010

(Hickory, Ky.) -- A Kentucky State Police Sergeant was recently honored for his excellence in crisis intervention. Sgt. Joey Adams received the award of Crisis Intervention Team "Officer of the Year" at a ceremony in Shepherdsville, KY. Adams was nominated by his peers after an incident in September of 2009 in Graves County involving a mentally ill patient at her residence. According to other officers at the scene, the positive outcome of the incident was the direct result of his training in crisis intervention. Due to the favorable results, other officers have been CIT trained which allows them to better respond to incidents involving people with mental illnesses.
Sergeant Joey Adams is an 11 year veteran of the Kentucky State Police and a native of Carlisle County. He currently is assigned as a squad sergeant over Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, and Hickman counties.
