(Hickory, Ky.) -- During the week of July 26th, Troopers with the Kentucky State Police, in conjunction with the Kentucky State Police Aircraft Section, have been conducting marijuana eradication across western Kentucky. As of Friday morning a total of 589 marijuana plants have been eradicated in Livingston, Lyon, and Trigg counties. At maturity, these plants have an estimated street value of $1,178,000. During this time two people have been arrested and charged with cultivating marijuana along with the execution of two search warrants.
On Thursday, July 29th, KSP aircraft located 67 marijuana plants on property belonging to Dennis “Mickey” Brashears on Cerulean-Hopkinsville Road in Trigg County. Before patrol units could reach the location on foot, Brashears fled the scene. A search warrant was obtained for Brashears residence and property. The search yielded the discovery of weapons, ammunition, a significant amount of processed marijuana, and ledgers indicating the sale and distribution of marijuana and other controlled substances. Drug and weapons possession charges are pending for Brashears. Detective Brett Miller with Kentucky State Police continues to investigate.
