Former Minister Arrested for Theft
Date of News Release: 08/09/2010
(Ledbetter, Ky.) -- A former minister of a Livingston County Church was arrested Monday morning after a lengthy Kentucky State Police investigation. In June of 2009, Kentucky State Police received a complaint from a trustee with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Ledbetter. The trustee advised a state police detective that he believed a former minister at the church had used the church credit card to make purchases not associated with church business. The minister was relieved of his duties once the allegations surfaced. Detective John Sims began the long task of examining bank and credit card statements in order to determine how much had been taken. After completing his investigation, Detective Sims presented his case to a Livingston County Grand Jury which returned and indictment on 45-year-old Richard Webb, of Paducah, Kentucky. It is believed that Webb spent over $10,000 on personal electronics and other items purchased in person and on the internet over a 3 year period. Mr. Webb was arrested early Monday morning for Theft Over $10,000. Webb remains in the McCracken County jail on a $25,000 cash bond. The investigation continues by Detective Sims with the Kentucky State Police.
