One Killed in a Single Vehicle Collision in Trigg County

Date of News Release: 07/21/2010

(Cadiz, Ky.) -- A Tennessee woman is dead after a single vehicle collision in Trigg County this morning. At 11:40 AM, Kentucky State Police responded to the collision on Riley Hollow Road just west of Cadiz. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero operated by 21-year-old Joshua Vetzel of Mammoth Cave, KY, was traveling west on Riley Hollow Road when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the right shoulder of the roadway and hit several trees before coming for final rest. A passenger in the vehicle, 19-year-old, Whitney Happy of Clarksville, TN, was killed as a result of the collision. Both occupants of the vehicle were restrained and speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision. Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Trigg County Sheriff's Office, Trigg County EMS/Rescue, and the East Golden Pond Fire Department. TFC. Christopher Anderson with the Kentucky State Police continues to investigate.
