In October of 2009, a staff member of Lowes Elementary School contacted state police after school officials suspected that money was being taken from a school fund raising account. The money being raised was to pay for an upcoming field trip to Washington D.C. An investigation revealed that over $12,000 was missing from the account. Further investigation showed that Jenny Moore, chairman of the fundraising committee, failed to deposit money into the fundraising account for several months. Ms. Moore, 32 of Lowes, was arrested this morning and charged with one count of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property over $10,000. Ms. Moore was lodged in the Graves County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by Detective Jerry Jones with the Kentucky State Police.
