Drug Arrests in Marshall County

(Eddyville,Ky.) -- At approximately 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2010 Kentucky State Trooper David Archer stopped a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Justin Lovett, 19-year-old of Benton on Interstate 24 near Eddyville, Kentucky. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Trooper Archer observed illegal controlled substances near the center console of the vehicle. With the assistance of Trooper T.J. Williams, State Police seized 65 Lortabs, a half pound of marijuana, and $13,771 in cash. Further investigation by Troopers Archer, Williams and Detective Cory Jessup lead State Police to obtain a search warrant for Mr. Lovett's residence on Dogtown Road in Marshall County. Subsequently, Mr. Lovett and his passenger, Dale Lovett, 50-year-old of Benton, were each charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense and Trafficking Marijuana under 8 ounces. Both were lodged in the Caldwell County Jail. Investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
