(Henderson, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, the Kentucky State Police received a call at 0910 a.m. from Hartford Police Department requesting the Kentucky State Police to investigate an attempted murder complaint. Hartford Police stated they arrived at 427 E. Frederica Street in the limits of Hartford and found Barbara Ward, (Age 66) of Hartford, lying outside with an apparent gunshot wound. Barbara Ward died a short time later at the Ohio County Hospital.
During the course of the investigation, the Kentucky State Police was actively looking for Barbara Wards estranged husband, Carl Ward. Kentucky State Police Troopers and Daviess County Sheriff Deputies surrounded a home at the 7200 block of KY 279 in West Louisville. The Special Response Team entered the residence and located the body of Carl Ward, (Age 66) of Hartford. It appears that he died from a self inflicted gun shot wound.
The following agencies contributed to the investigation: Kentucky State Police Detective Bryan Whittaker; Kentucky State Police Post-16 Henderson; Kentucky State Police Aircraft Section; Kentucky State Police Special Response Team (SRT); Daviess County Sheriff's Department; and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
The investigation is on-going and autopsies are pending.
