U.S. Marshal Shooting in Hawesville, KY

(Henderson, Ky.) -- The U.S. Marshals Service has requested the Kentucky State Police to investigate the shooting death of a suspect in Hawesville, KY.
The Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson was notified on 10-22-2010 at 3:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting involving a U.S. Marshal. The U.S. Marshal's Task Force of Evansville, Indiana were attempting to serve an arrest and search warrant at 365 Upper Jefferson Lane in Hawesville (Hancock County) KY. The suspect in the residence was shot and killed by a U.S. Marshal while attempting to serve said warrant.
The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Roger D. Pate II (36 years old) from Tell City, Indiana. He was wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force.
An autopsy was performed on Pate this morning (10/23/2010) in Louisville, KY. The autopsy investigation is pending; however, Pate died from a single gunshot wound during the execution of the search/arrest warrant.
