Marijuana Cultivation More than 5 Plants
Date of News Release:10/06/2010
(Henderson, Ky.) -- Tpr. Chris McKee U/494 received an anonymous tip in regards to the Cultivation of Marijuana near the Centertown area of Ohio County. State Police units located the marijuana plot on the edge of a corn field off of KY 85 just west of the limits of Centertown. The plants appeared to be freshly cultivated as there was evidence of recent fertilization. A back pack was discovered near one of the larger plots which contained a car battery that powered a water pump. A large garden hose was located near the back pack. A creek was less than 100' from the plot and was likely used to irrigate the plants. After the marijuana was seized it was transported to the State Police Post Henderson where the plants were counted and then destroyed. The plant count was 330 marijuana plants ranging from 3' – 6' in height. Estimated cost of the plants is approximately $660,000.00.
