One Killed & One Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on US 431

Date of News Release:10/06/2010

(Henderson, Ky.) -- Dickey Darrough was traveling south on US 431, approximately seven miles south of Owensboro. Darin McIntyre was also on US 431 traveling south behind Darrough in his 2004 Chevrolet box van. Darrough came to a stop on US 431 to make a left turn onto East Marksberry Road. For an unknown reason, McIntyre failed to see Darrough and struck the rear of Darrough’s Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck. The force redirected both vehicles off the roadway and into a harvested bean field south-east of the impact.

Mr. Darrough was pronounced dead on-scene by Daviess County Deputy Coroner Darrell Day.

Mr. McIntyre was transported to Owensboro Medical Health Systems for treatment. His status is unknown at this time.

North and southbound lanes of US 431 were shut down for over 2.5 hours while KSP reconstructed the collision.

The investigation continues.
