Injury collision on KY 163 in Tompkinsville, Ky

(Tompkinsville, Ky.) -- Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Casey Tooley is investigating a collision that occurred at 3:40 pm on KY 163, 1 mile north of Tompkinsville. Justin Flippin, age 20 of Tompkinsville, was operating a 2002 Chevy northbound on KY 163. Mr. Flippin lost control of the vehicle and traveled into the southbound lane striking a 2000 Chevy Truck operated by Liopoldo Jurez age 25 of Summer Shade, head on. Mr. Jurez and passengers Rey Mendez, Damion Serquo, and Guan Don Jurez, all of Summer Shade, were transported to the Monroe County Medical Center. All passengers in the Jurez vehicle were belted at the time of the collision.
Mr. Flippin was flown from the scene to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville Tennessee. A passenger in the Mr. Flippin vehicle, Alvin Rocha, age 21 of Tompkinsville, was transported to TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow. Mr. Flippin and Mr. Rocha were not belted at the time of the collision.
Officer Casey Tooley was assisted at the scene by Trooper Bobby Maxwell, Monroe County Fire, EMS, and Rescue.
