Two Arrested in the Fatal House Fire Investigation in Monroe County

Date of News Release: 08/31/2010

(Monroe County, Ky) -- On Monday, August 30 2010, two men were arrested on charges that led to the death of 68-year-old Thomas M. Martin of Tompkinsville.

22-year-old Jonathan Young of Glasgow, KY was arrested at approximately 12:00 PM CST by KSP Detective Mike Dubree and was charged with Complicity to Commit Murder, Complicity to Commit Arson and Complicity to Commit Burglary 1st Degree.

22-year-old Jessie Parke of Summershade, KY was also arrested and charged with Murder, Arson and Burglary 1st Degree. Parke was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's Service in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at approximately 5:00 PM CST and is awaiting extradition back to Kentucky with no immediate timetable set for his return.

KSP was assisted by the U.S. Marshall's service, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Tompkinsville Police Department and local Firefighters. The case remains under investigation by KSP Detective Mike Dubree.

(Monroe County, Ky) -- On Friday, August 27, 2010 an autopsy was conducted and the body was identified as Thomas M. Martin, age 68, of Tompkinsville. Foul Play is suspected. The homicide investigation continues by Kentucky State Police.

Date of News Release: 08/26/2010

(Monroe County, Ky) -- At 5:33 a.m. Kentucky State Police , EMS and Fire personnel responded to a residential house fire at 1600 Hope Road. Located inside the house was a deceased male. Cause and origin of the fire is yet to be determined. Positive identification of the deceased is pending an autopsy that is scheduled for 8/27/10. Arson Detective Alex Wesley and Detective Mike Dubree will continue the investigation.
