Six Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on KY 76

(Columbia, Ky.) -- Trooper Bryan Shepard is investigating a collision that occurred at 10:35 AM, on West KY 76, approximately 5 miles north of Russell Springs. 24 year old Brenda Wethington, of Russell Springs was operating a Black 1999 GMC. Wethington had 3 passengers in her vehicle: 25 year old Gregory Weaver, which was not belted, 2 year old Adrian Wethington, and 1 year old Alyssa Wethington, all of Russell Springs. Both juveniles in the Wethington vehicle were in child safety restraints.

Juanita Scott, 38 years of age, of Columbia, was operating a Blue 1993 Ford. Scott had 2 passengers: Jonathan Scott, age 14, and Corey Scott, age 9, all of Columbia. All subjects in the Scott vehicle were belted.

Wethington attempted to turn onto West KY 76 from Sheperd Lane and pulled into the path of the Scott vehicle, which was Westbound on KY 76. Scott's vehicle was unable to avoid the collision and struck Wethington, causing her vehicle to overturn.

Brenda Wethington and Corey Scott were flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Juanita Scott, Jonathan Scott, Adrian Wethington, and Alyssa Wethington were taken to the Russell County Hospital, where they were treated and released. Gregory Weaver was not injured.

Trooper Sheperd was assisted at the scene by Trooper Jamie Richard, Russell County EMS, and the Russell Springs Fire Department.
