Two Injured in a Single Vehicle Collision on on US 68

(Marion County, Ky.) -- Trooper Fred Cornett is investigating a collision that occurred at 8:55 a.m., 4 miles west of Lebanon on US68. The collision occurred when a 1999 Ford, operated by George Johnson, age 52, of Columbia, was traveling eastbound on US68. Johnson, who was belted, attempted to overtake another vehicle, also traveling eastbound, when he left the westbound lane, struck a guardrail and then an embankment. Johnson and a passenger, 20 year old Bethany Helm, of Columbia, who was not belted, were both transported by Marion County EMS to the Taylor Regional Hospital. Johnson was treated and released. Helm was admitted to TRH due to her injuries. Trooper Cornett was assisted at the scene by Marion County EMS.
