Update to the Deputy shot during traffic stop

(Columbia, Ky) -- Shawn Keith Durham a 5'4" 125 lb. white male with brown hair and brown eyes, of Lincoln County and 23-year-old Michael Wayne Durham, a 5'7" 143 lb. white male with brown hair and brown eyes, of Madison County have been arrested in the western part of Virgina. Both men are currently wanted in Boyle County on charges of Robbery 1st, Assault 1st, Kidnapping, Wanton Endangerment 1st and Theft by Unlawful Taking. TDetails in reference to the arrest in Virginia are not available at this time. Both will be brought back to KY to answer to the local charges pending extradition. No timetable for the extradtion is available.

(Columbia, Ky) -- Units from Post 15 are currently involved in the investigation of an officer involved shooting in Russell County. At approximately 3:27 CST Russell County Deputy Sheriff Cary York stopped a dark colored car with tinted windows and no visible license plate just south of the Wolf Creek Dam on US 0127. As Deputy York approached the vehicle, he began taking fire from someone inside the vehicle. Deputy York retreated to the rear of his vehicle where he returned fire. The vehicle, believed to be a 2000-2005 black Ford Taurus sped away. Deputy York sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the ballistic vest he was wearing and was unable to engage in pursuit. Deputy York was treated and released at Russell County Hospital. He sustained no injuries from the gunshots. Deputy York, age 35, has been employed with the Russell County Sheriff's Department since August of 2006.
