Arrest made in 2006 Cold Case Murder of Paul Montgomery

Date of News Release: 04/27/2010

(Columbia, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, April 27, 2010 the Russell County Grand Jury returned indictments on Steven W. Williams, age 52, of Russell Springs and Danny Hill, age 45, of Jamestown in connection with the 2006 Murder of Paul Montgomery. Williams was indicted for Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence while Hill was indicted for Complicity to Commit Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Williams is currently incarcerated in the Warren County Regional Detention Center on federal drug charges and has not yet been served. Hill was arrested at his residence in Jamestown at 3:08 CST without incident and lodged in the Russell County Jail.

The indictments were the result of a 3 ½ year investigation by Detectives from Post 15. During the course of the investigation, new information led to the identification of witnesses and the seizure of evidence which helped investigators present the case to the Russell County Grand Jury. This arrest marks the second cold case murder arrest in the Post 15 area in the past year. Detective Lt. Eric Wolford and Detective Mike Dubree are investigating. Russell County Sheriff Larry Bennett assisted in the Hill arrest.
