One Killed in a Two Vehicle Collision in Monroe County

(Monroe County, Ky.) -- A fatal collision occurred at 4:18p.m. 1 West of Fountain Run on Ky 100. A 2000 GMC Pickup operated by James Eldon Veach, age 80, of Fountain Run, was belted, was traveling Eastbound on Ky 100 where he attempted to turn left on Ky 98, turning in front of a 2008 Kenworth, operated by Aden Unruh, age 24, of Fountain Run , was belted, traveling Westbound on Ky 100 where he struck the front passenger side of Veach's vehicle. Mr.Veach was taken to Monroe County Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner Tony High. Mr. Veach died of blunt force trauma. No autopsy will be performed. Unruh was not injured.

Monroe County Sheriffs Department, Fountain Run Fire Department, Monroe County EMS, and Allen County Sheriffs Department assisted at the scene.
