Two Injured in a Single Vehicle Collision on Fountain Run Road

(Gamaliel, Ky.) -- Trooper Logan Richardson is investigating a collision that occurred on Fountain Run Road, 5 miles west of Gamaliel, at 9:25 p.m. Loyd Britt Jr age 53 of Glasgow was operating a 2003 Ford Ranger when he failed to negotiate a turn, overcorrected, and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to catch on fire. A passenger, Jonas Powell age 43 of Glasgow, was transported to Monroe County Medical Center. Mr. Britt was airlifted to U of L Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Seatbelts were in use. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges are pending. Trooper Richardson was assisted at the scene by Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department, and Monroe County EMS.
