An Olive Hill resident arrested on outstanding warrants

Date of News Release: 11/11/2010

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested an Olive Hill suspect following an incident that occurred at a residence on KY 2 in Olive hill, KY yesterday around 8:23pm. Trooper Daren Kinman responded to this residence in order to check the welfare of a female subject possibly believed to be in danger. Trooper Kinman made contact with a male subject who gave a false name to the trooper. After further investigation, it was discovered the male subject was actually Billy Joe Binion age 28 of Olive Hill. Furthermore, it was discovered Binion had active warrants against him. When Trooper Kinman attempted to arrest Binion, he attempted to flee. Kinman deployed his agency issued TASER upon which Binion became compliant. There were no injuries to any police officer or Binion. Binion was arrested on the warrants (Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Offense, Prescription not in Proper Container) and Giving a Police Officer a False Name, and Fleeing and Evading 2nd degree. He was lodged in the Carter County Detention Center.

Trooper Kinman also located the female which was not in harms way. Binion's arrest was not related to the original call to check on the female.

Olive Hill Police Department also assisted the Kentucky State Police.
