Felony Arrests in Grayson, KY

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police, in joint cooperation with the Grayson Police Department and Carter County Sheriff, have arrested a Grayson couple in connection with a recent rash of burglaries in the Carter County area. Franklin L. Barker, age 24, and Amanda Matthews, age 29 (boyfriend-girlfriend) of 508 Bowen Street Grayson, KY were arrested at a friendís residence at 601 Dixie Street Grayson, KY yesterday evening around 7pm.
Troopers located both suspects at this residence and Amanda Matthews was subsequently arrested on warrants obtained by the Kentucky State Police. Upon police entry, Franklin Barker attempted to hide in a bedroom closet. Barker was located hiding under some blankets which resulted in Trooper Jim Ryland deploying his TASER after Barker failed to comply with Rylandís commands. Both suspects were transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
Amanda Matthews was charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Class D felony).
Franklin Barker was charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Class D felony), Resisting Arrest, Menacing, Burglary 2nd degree (Class C felony), Theft by Deception (Misdemeanor).
Through investigation and cooperation by multiple agencies, these suspects were located and believed to be responsible for several burglary related offenses throughout Carter County. There were several items located in the possession of these suspects that had been taken from some of the local burglaries. Additional charges are pending against Matthews and Barker for other burglaries.
The Grayson Police Department has also arrested two suspects who were believed to have been involved with the Matthews and Barker.
