One Killed and Two Injured in a Single Vehicle Collision on I-64

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is continuing their investigation into a single vehicle fatal collision that claimed the life of a Fayette County resident. The collision occurred on July 18, 2010 at approximately 1746 hours at the 170 mile marker on I-64 in Carter County. Angela Acosta, age 31, was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier and was traveling eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle and rolled it several times across the median onto the westbound lane. Ms. Acosta was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Wallace. Seatbelts and / or child restraint seats were in use by all parties.

The two juvenile passengers, ages 5 and 10 (males) were airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital, West Virginia for multiple injuries. Both juveniles were the children of Ms. Acosta.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by Trooper Blake Frasure.
