Pursuit & Felony Arrest in Lawrence County

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Lawrence County resident following a pursuit on US 23 and Blaine Creek Road in Lawrence County, KY yesterday evening around 5:15pm. Trooper Jason Partin attempted to stop a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass occupied by one male (driver) and two females on US 23 for the occupants failing to wear their seatbelts. The driver, Casey Eugene Holbrook, age 26, failed to stop the vehicle and continued south on US 23. Holbrook turned northbound on US 23 and then onto Blaine Creek Road where he stopped the vehicle near the junction of KY 707. Holbrook exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area. The two females were not arrested nor injured during the pursuit.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from the Ashland area and believed to be a motive for not stopping the vehicle. Around 2 am on 6-17-10, Holbrook was located walking on US 23 near Louisa by Detective Mike Murriell. Murriell arrested Holbrook on charges of Possession of Marijuana, and 2 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Trooper Partin charged Holbrook with being a Fugitive from Justice (out of state), Wanton endangerment 1st degree (Police Officer), 2 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Evading 1st degree, Receiving Stolen Property (felony), Failure to Wear Seatbelt. Holbrook was transported and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional jail.
The investigation is continuing by Trooper Jason Partin of the Kentucky State Police.
