Murder Arrest in Carter County

Limings, click here to enlarge the image(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Carter County resident after receiving indictments handed down from the Carter County grand jury. Robert Limmings, age 47, of Blaine, KY was arrested this morning and charged with one count of Capital Murder and one count of Arson 1st Degree. Limmings was already in custody at the Carter County Detention Center on the original charges in the case of Burglary 1st and Tampering with Physical evidence. These additional charges stem from testimony provided to the Carter County grand jury by Kentucky State Police Detectives Rodney Carroll and Ben Tanner. The grand jury indicted Limmings for the December 13, 2009 offenses after Limmings burglarized the home of Rick Hopkins on Garvin Ridge in Carter County. Limmings killed Hopkins inside the residence and then set fire to the home.

The investigation is continuing by Detectives Rodney Carroll and Ben Tanner of the Kentucky State Police.

(Ashland, Ky.) -- On Sunday December the 13th the Kentucky State Police Post 14 received a call of a possible arson at a residence in Olive Hill, KY. Upon arrival Arson Investigator R. Carroll U/1814 discovered a body in the residence. Additional units responded to the scene at that time to assist with the investigation. During the course of the investigation Robert C. Limings was arrested in connection with this incident. Mr. Limings has been charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence and was lodged in the Carter County Detention Center. An autopsy is scheduled for this date. The investigation is currently ongoing by Det. Ben Tanner U/820 and Arson Investigator Rodney Carroll U/1814. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
