Additional Charges on Captured Fugitive in Greenup County

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested Jeff Meade Jr. on additional charges stemming from the incident on May 14, 2010 (see below). On 5-17-10, Detective Mike Murriell charged Meade with Sodomy 1st degree (Class A felony), Sexual Abuse 1st degree (Class C felony), and Promoting Sexual Performance of a Minor (Class B felony). These charges are a result from the continued investigation into the events that occurred on 05-14-10. The investigation revealed the individual that Meade originally had argued with (believed to be Max Wiley) had discovered evidence that Meade had participated in illegal sexual acts with a non-family member (female) under the age of twelve. Investigators determined this was the original motive for the confrontation.
Detective Murriell served the additional warrants on Meade at the Greenup County detention Center. His total bond on the previous charges is $30,000. Bond amount on the latter charges is $180,000.

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Jefferson County resident on charges stemming from a physical altercation involving a firearm on Meade Branch in Greenup County. Jeff Meade Jr. (age 62) of 313 South 20th Street Louisville, KY was arrested by Trooper Justin Oliver after a four hour manhunt ended at the KY 503 / 207 area of Wurtland, KY. Early details of the investigation revealed around 6:15 hours this evening, Meade and another man (name believed to be Max Wiley [age – address unavailable due to this subject leaving the scene]) were involved in an argument when Meade allegedly chased this individual with a firearm on Meade Branch. Billy Meade, a relative of Jeff Meade, confronted Jeff Meade and Jeff pointed the loaded firearm (22 Long Rifle) directly at him. Jeff Meade then fled the scene and ran into a heavily wooded area near the junction of Meade Branch and Uhlen Branch in Wurtland, KY.
Several Kentucky State troopers from the Post 14 area engaged in an intense man-hunt including the KSP K-9 unit. At about 10 pm, Trooper Oliver received a tip from a passing motorist about a possible location of Jeff Meade. Trooper Oliver drove to this area, which was at the junction of the Industrial Parkway and KY 207, and located the suspect. Meade was arrested and transported to the Greenup County Detention Center. He was charged with: Giving an Officer a false name and address, Class B Misdemeanor, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Possession of firearm by convicted felon, Non-compliant of sexual offender registry, all Class D felonies.
Other details stemming from this investigation will most likely bring additional charges but no details are available for release at this time.
