Death Investigation in Carter County

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating an early morning shooting that left one man dead at 320 Clark Hill Ave in Olive Hill, KY. The shooting occurred around 0600 am at the residence of Carl Bright. Forty-five year old Boyd E. Littleton II was shot by Mr. Bright at Mr. Bright's residence. The investigation revealed Mr. Littleton attempted to forcibly gain entry into Mr. Bright's residence by kicking both rear and front doors of the house. Mr. Littleton was shot after he managed to kick in the front door. There have been no charges filed against Mr. Bright by the Kentucky State Police at this time. The case will be investigated and presented to the Carter County Commonwealth Attorney's office. The Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) officer was summonsed to the scene in which a large amount of alcohol was confiscated from Mr. Bright's residence. Mr. Bright was cited to court by ABC for the charges relating to the sale and possession of alcoholic beverages in a dry territory.

Mr. Littleton was pronounced dead at the scene by Carter County Coroner George Sparks.

The investigation is continuing by Detective Erik Kouns of the Kentucky State Police.
