Update on Death Investigation in Perry County

Date of News Release: 11/27/2010

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On November 26, 2010 at approximately 8:55 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call from Perry County 911 requesting assistance in investigating the death of two individuals found inside their residence in the Brownsfork community of Perry County.

Family members became concerned when they were unable to make contact with Roy and Wanda Campbell at their residence and called 911 for assistance.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Roy Campbell, age 81 and Wanda Campbell, age 79 both were found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims have been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is being treated as a homicide. State Police are asking anyone that may have information to call them at (606) 435-6069 or 1-800-222-5555. The investigation is continuing by Det. Gary Sandlin with the Kentucky State Police.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time and the investigation is being treated as a homicide. More information will be released as it becomes available. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police Post 13.
