Two injured during domestic dispute in Knott County

(Soft Shell, Ky.) -- On Monday, November 15, 2010 at approximately 12:18 am, Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a domestic violence call from 1114 Wiley Fork Road, in the Soft Shell community of Knott County. Serena Sears, 33, and Enoch Watts, 46, both of Soft Shell, had apparently been involved in an argument at another location, and ended up at their residence in Soft Shell. The dispute continued, while Serena Sears and the couples's small child were occupying a vehicle, and a firearm was brandished. Serena Sears received a single gunshot wound to both arms. She was transported to Hazard ARH, then later to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, for treatment of her injuries. She remains in stable condition at this time. Enoch Watts was taken to McDowell ARH, where he was treated for minor injuries, and released. He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail, in Hazard on charges of Assault 1st Degree Domestic Violence, Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Randall Riley.
