Shooting Investigation in Knott County

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On November 11, 2010 Kentucky State Police Hazard responded to a report of a domestic violence complaint in the Litt Carr Community of Knott County. Upon arrival, troopers located a juvenile at the location with a very minor, non life threatening gun shot wound to the left leg. The juvenile was transported to the Hazard ARH for treatment. Witnesses on the scene stated that the juvenile was there at the location during a fight and started running toward an elderly female at the location carrying a weapon. The elderly female had a firearm in her possession and told the juvenile to stop several times, to which he failed to do so resulting in the single gun shot wound to the leg. No charges will be filed against the elderly female. Another male at the location, Jonathon Sparkman, was arrested for domestic violence charges by the Knott County Sheriff's department.
