Knott County Assault

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On June 12, 2010 Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard, Kentucky received a 911 call from Lower Mill Creek Road in the Carrie Community of Knott County advising Charles Messer had been assaulted by Darrell Cornett. During the altercation, Darrell Cornett struck Charles Messer causing a large laceration. Mr. Messer was transported to the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Mr. Cornett was arrested and lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Perry County. The investigation remains open by Trooper Oman W. Sandlin U/691 with the Kentucky State Police.
