Update on Double Shooting in Perry County

Garfield Herald Jr, click to enlarge(Hazard, Ky.) -- On May 20, 2010, Kentucky State Police began an investigation into a double shooting in the Vicco area of Perry County. The preliminary investigation led police to obtain arrest warrants on Garfield Herald Jr. age 26 of Busy KY, for 2 counts of Assault 1st degree, in connection with the shooting. On Friday, May 21, 2010, at approximately 10:30 AM, Garfield Herald Jr turned himself into officers at Post 13 in Hazard. He is currently lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail, charged with the two counts of Assault 1st degree. Detective Randy Combs with the Kentucky State Police Post 13, is continuing this investigation.

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On May 20, 2010 Kentucky State Police began an investigation into a double shooting in Perry County. Preliminary investigation has led police to obtain arrest warrants for Assault 1st Degree 2 counts on Garfield Herald Jr. age 26 of Busy Ky. in connection to the shooting. Herald is considered to be armed and dangerous. State Police are asking anyone who has any information about the shooting or the location of Garfield Herald Jr. to please call them at 606-435-6069 or 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state).

Date of News Release: 05/20/2010

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On May 20, 2010 at approximately 09:27 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call in reference to two subjects being shot on Montgomery Creek Road in the Vicco Community of Perry County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Albert M. Jent (aka: Glen) age 49 of Vicco and Shawn C. Mobelini age 35 of Vicco received gunshot wounds as a result of an altercation at the Jent residence. Mr. Jent was transported to the Hazard ARH and air lifted to Holston Valley Medical Center. Ms. Mobelini was air lifted from the scene. The conditions of the injured are not known.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is continuing.
