Kentucky State Police Detective receives Young Man of the Year award for Perry County

(Hazard, Ky) -- Detective Ben Campbell with the Kentucky State Police recevied the Young Man of the Year award for Perry County. Detective Campbell received the award on Tuesday April 13th on Civic Night sponsored by the Hazard/Perry County Chamber of Commerce. This award is presented to an outstanding young man under 40 years old. Detective Campbell volunteers his time to help with March of Dimes, Relay for Life, Shop with a Cop, Coal for Kids, as well as mentoring for the homeless. Detective Campbell also devotes a great deal of time toward Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Camp, the Halfway to Hazard annual charity trail ride event, as well as Camp Promise, a camp for at-risk children.
Detective Campbell is also assigned to the investigations division at the Hazard KSP Post, where he focuses his efforts on street level drug dealers. According to Captain Scott Miller, the Post Commander, at Hazard Post, 'Detective Campbell has been instrumental in helping enforce the drug laws of Kentucky as well as being a positive influence for the citizens and young kids in the community'. Adding that 'Detective Campbell is often times called upon to take on multiple roles and responsibilities and is always willing to accept the challenges we hand him'.
Detective Campbell has worked with the Kentucky State Police for 6 years. He has worked as a Trooper in the Morehead Post District and has worked as a Trooper and a Street Level Narcotics detective at Hazard Post. He is married to Ellie Long Campbell and the son of Lisa Vanatta and Pearl Campbell.
