Post Thirteen 2010 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy

(Hazard, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police, Post 13, in Hazard is now accepting applications for the 2nd annual Citizen’s Police Academy. This learning opportunity will provide those in the class with an in depth look at the multiple aspects of the Kentucky State Police, as well as, an opportunity to interact with the Troopers that work in their communities. Some of the topics that will be covered are patrol, criminal investigations, and drug investigations. Students will also get to take part in simulated traffic stops and evidence collection.
The 11 week academy will begin on March 30, 2010. The classes will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Kentucky State Police Post in Hazard. Some sessions may be conducted at alternate locations based on need. The academy is set to conclude on June 8th, 2010.
Anyone 18 years of age, or older, living within the Kentucky State Police, Post 13 District is welcome to apply. The KSP Post 13 District consists of Breathitt, Perry, Leslie, Knott, and Letcher counties. The class will be limited to 25 students. There is no cost to attend and participants must attend 80% of the classes to graduate. All applicants will be subject to a background check.
