Trooper Turley Has Been Selected a Recipient of the 2010 Champions for Children Law Enforcement Award

(Frankfort, KY.) --August 30, 2010, Kentucky State Police Post 12 Public Affairs Officer, Tpr. Ron Turley has been selected a recipient of the 2010 Champions for Children Law Enforcement Award. The award was presented to Tpr. Turley in Lexington at the "Kids Are Worth It" Statewide Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Prevention Conference, sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse KY. This award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding efforts in the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Trooper Ron Turley has been serving our Commonwealth for nearly 24 years. As Public Affairs Officer at Post 12, Tpr. Turley coordinates the yearly Troopers Island Camp for children as well as being a D.A.R.E. Officer for schools in the Post 12 area. Trooper Turley also works with children at Safety City at the Kentucky State Fair every year. Captain Mike Crawford, Commander of Post 12, states "Trooper Turley's dedicated service to our children and all citizens of the Commonwealth is reflected in his selfless and positive attitude everyday." Captain Crawford went on to state, "Ron has assisted with numerous child related programs sponsored by our Agency such as Trooper Island, Shop with a Trooper at Christmas time, Boy Scouts of America, and literally hundreds of child safety programs over his 24 years".
Trooper Turley is the recipient of numerous awards which include the 2007 KSP Public Affairs Officer of the Year, and the 2008 Post 12 Trooper of the Year.
Tpr. Turley resides in Lexington with his wife Edith.
