Injury Collision on I-75 in Scott County

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- Trooper Brad Russell was assisting the Scott County Sheriff's Office on a collision located southbound on I-75 at the 137.5 mile marker. While Tpr. Russell was assisting in that collision another collision occurred at the same location. Unit 1 a Chevy Astor Van was traveling southbound on I-75 in the right lane. The driver of Unit 1 lost control of his vehicle as he crossed the Eagle Creek Bridge located at the 138 mile marker on I-75.

The wrecker at the collision scene had its loading ramp down preparing to load a wrecked vehicle. When the Chevy van struck the wrecker ramp and traveled air borne over the top of Tpr. Russell State Police cruiser. The van next struck a second wrecker at the scene. The Chevy came to final rest on it side. The driver of unit 1 Mr. Kenneth Blue was taken by Scott County EMS to the UK Hospital in Lexington. Both wrecker drivers were outside their vehicles and had to be taken to the Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown, KY. Tpr. Russell was setting inside his cruiser and suffered no injuries. The collision is under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
