Traffic Crash with Fatality in Laurel County

(London, Ky.) -- On Saturday October 30, 2010 at 08:33 AM the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a two (2) vehicle traffic crash, with injury, on KY 80 six (6) miles west of London in Laurel County.
Upon arrival TFC Don Trosper determined that a red, 1991, Ford, pickup truck, operated by Danny Q. Hill, 65, of London, was traveling northbound from White Oak road to KY 1956 when it entered the path of a white, 2009, International, tractor / trailer, operated by Reginald Mallory, 55, of Saint Helena Island, SC that was westbound on KY 80.
The Ford pickup was struck in the passenger side by the International tractor / trailer and both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lanes of KY 80.
Mr. Hill, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was flown from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington where he was pronounced dead by the Fayette County Coroner office at 10:59 AM.
Mr. Mallory, who was wearing his seatbelt, was transported to the Saint Joseph of London Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The westbound lanes of KY 80 were closed for approximately three and one half (3 ½) hours while the incident was investigated and cleaned up.
No alcohol or drug involvement is suspected.
TFC Trosper is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Ryan Loudermilk, CVE Officer Travis Rogers, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet S.A.F.E. Patrol.
