Traffic Crash with Fatality in Clay County

(London, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at approximately 8:00 PM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London received a report of a two vehicle traffic crash on KY 66 in Oneida, KY.
Upon arrival Trooper Greg Hill determined that a 1991, Geo, Tracker, operated by Herbert R. Davidson, 29, of Oneida, was traveling southbound on KY 66 when it made a left turn into the path of two off road motorcycles (dirt bikes) that were traveling north.
One off road motorcycle, a KTM 450, operated by Carl D. Davidson, 17, of Oneida, attempted to stop but could not avoid collision with the Tracker.
Carl D. Davidson, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected as a result of the collision and was transported to the Memorial Hospital in Manchester where he was pronounced dead by Clay County Coroner Jim Trosper.
Herbert R. Davidson, who was arrested on the charges of, Operating on a DUI Suspended Operators License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Failure to Render Aid), No Registration Plates, No Registration Receipt and Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance, was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
There is no known family connection between the two operators at this time.
The other off road motorcycle was not involved in the collision and no further information is available.
Trooper Hill is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by officers from the Kentucky State Police, the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the Manchester Police Department, the Clay County EMS, the Oneida Fire Department and the Clay County Coroner.
