One Killed in a Double Vehicle Collision on I-75

(London, Ky.) -- On Monday, March 08, 2010, at approximately 10:44 PM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received a report of a traffic crash on Interstate 75 in Whitley County.

Upon arrival KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Greg Reams determined that a green, 1996, Chevrolet, S-10, operated by Larry W. Rogers, 65 of Corbin, was stopped for an unknown reason in the right lane of the southbound side of I-75. The S-10 was then struck, in the rear, by a white, 2007, Freightliner, tractor-trailer, operated by Donald M. Cain, 44, of Dayton, OH.

Mr. Rogers, was ejected from the vehicle, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner's Office. Mr. Rogers was not wearing a seat belt.

Mr. Cain was not injured.

No Alcohol or drug involvement is suspected.

KSP-CVE Officer Reams is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the officers from the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Corbin Police Department, the Whitley County Coroner's Office, the Whitley County Emergency Management and the Whitley County EMS.
