Fatal Accident - Death Investigation in Whitley County

(London, Ky.) -- On Monday, February 08, 2010, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received a report of a deceased body on Poplar Creek School Road, 7 miles west of Siler in Whitley County.
Upon arrival Trooper Mike Witt determined that a 1986 Oldsmobile car was traveling on Poplar Creek School Road, at an unknown time during the night, when it entered a flooded area, became disabled and left the roadway.
The operator, Lowell M. Mullins, 61, of Williamsburg was found outside the vehicle in approximately 2 feet of water and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner's Office.
Alcohol usage is suspected and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Trooper Witt is continuing the investigation.
