Pike County Sheriff's Deputy arrested on Rape Charge

(Meta, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police, Pikeville is investigating a report of a rape that allegedly occurred late Thursday night, April 30th, 2009, in the Meta area of Pike County. A female motorist reported to state police that she had been the subject of a traffic stop by a uniformed Pike County Sheriff's Deputy, just off U.S. 119. The victim alleged that she was sexually-assaulted by the deputy during the stop. Investigation led to the arrest of Deputy William "Bill" Hatfield, 52, of Buskirk. Hatfield was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center and charged with one count of Rape 1st degree. The investigation is continuing by Post 9 Detective Ben Cramer.
