Date of News Release: 04/02/2009
(Pikeville, Ky.) - Troopers were dispatched to the residence of Richard Gooslin after family remembers reported he fired shots at them when they came to his home to pick up some belongings. Upon arrival of KSP units, Mr. Gooslin locked himself in the house and ignored troopers' verbal commands to exit the residence. Detective Ben Cramer established phone contact with Mr. Gooslin and after more than four hours of sporadic negotiations, Mr. Gooslin came out of the residence and was arrested. While en route to the jail, Mr. Gooslin became combative and tried to kick the windows out of Trooper Merlo's cruiser. Troopers deployed OC spray and a TASER to control Mr. Gooslin, who subsequently became compliant and was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center without further incident.
