Residential Fire in Carlisle

(Dry Ridge, Ky.) - On March 19, 2009, at approximately 0520 hours, Post 6 Detectives responded to a house fire at 1290 Walnut Grove Road in Carlisle. Through investigation, it was determined that fireworks were placed on the front porch of the residence where the fuses were ignited. The resulting explosion sent some of the fireworks through the eaves of the roof and into the attic which caused the home to catch on fire. Dreama Griffith, the owner of the residence, was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape without injury. The residence was destroyed.
The Kentucky State Police have charged Garrett Young, 18, of Mt. Olivet, with one count each of Arson 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. Both charges are Class D felonies, punishable by prison terms of one to five years for each charge. Jordan Stewart, 18, of Carlisle, was also charged with one count of Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, a violation, punishable by a fine.
