Two Killed & One Injured in a Two-Vehicle Collision in Carroll County

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- On Saturday, November 21st, 2009 at approximately 2:19a.m. The Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle fatal collision at KY 36 and Hampton Lane, in Carroll County.

A Chevy S-10 pickup truck driven by Benjamin Edwards age 30 from Carrollton, KY was traveling eastbound on KY 36, when the operator lost control of the vehicle and traveled into the westbound lane striking a Ford passenger car driven by Kelly Straugsbaugh, age 30 from Carrollton, Kentucky. After the collision, the passenger of the Chevy S-10 was ejected. The Chevy S-10 went over an embankment, and the Ford passenger car remained in the roadway.

Benjamin Edwards and Christa Edwards were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner, and were reportedly not wearing seatbelts.

Kelly Strausbaugh was transported to U of L Hospital in Louisville, KY with non life threatening injuries.

The collision is currently under investigation by Trooper Matt Corbin with the Kentucky State Police. Assisting on scene was Trooper Brandon Maupin, Trooper Kurt Buhts, The Carroll County Fire and Rescue, Carroll County Life Squad, Milton Fire and Rescue, PHI Medical transport, and the Carroll County Coroner
