Injury Collision on KY 448
Date of News Release: 06/09/2009
(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On June 8, at approximately 6:30 PM Eastern time, the Kentucky State Police Post in Elizabethtown was called to investigate a single-vehicle accident involving a Brandenburg Fire Department emergency response vehicle. Trooper Jason Drane responded to the scene, and discovered that the above listed vehicle, described as a water pumper truck, had overturned on KY448, in the city limits of Brandenburg. Through investigation, Trooper Drane discovered that said vehicle was traveling east in the right lane of KY448, enroute to an injury accident scene. The vehicle operator, Theresa Day (a 49-year-old white female from Brandenburg, KY), indicated that as she merged into the left lane, to pass slower moving traffic, the water load in the vehicle's tank shifted, causing the vehicle's tires to lose traction. Ms. Day lost control of the vehicle, which then crossed the westbound lanes and overturned in the ditchline along the westbound shoulder. All vehicle occupants were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with minor injuries.
