Injury Collision on Pickerell Lane

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On May 1, 2009, at 5:46 PM Eastern time, the Elizabethtown Post of the Kentucky State Police responded to an injury vehicle accident near 548 Pickerell Lane, Vine Grove. Unit 1, a 1992 Dodge Dakota operated by Darian L Rudder (a 44-year-old white male from Vine Grove, Ky), was traveling northbound on Pickerell Lane. Unit 2, a 1995 Geo Metro operated by Jesse W Horton (a 49-year-old white male from Vine Grove, Ky), was traveling southbound on Pickerell Lane. According to witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene, it was determined that Unit 1 crossed the center line and struck Unit 2 head-on. Both Unit 1 and and Unit 2 drivers were uninjured. The primary passenger of Unit 2, Ashley Horton (a 16-year-old white female from Vine Grove, Ky), suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. A second passenger, Layla Stidon (a 3-year-old white female from Vine Grove, Ky), suffered serious, but non-life threatening, injuries and was transported to Kosair Children's Hospital by LifeNet Air Ambulance. All occupants of Unit 2 were unrestrained, with the 3-year-old passenger being located in the lap of the primary passenger.
