DUI Injury Collision on Kentucky Highway 86

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) - On May 1, 2009 at 2:01 pm Eastern Time the Elizabethtown Post of the Kentucky State Police responded to an injury accident on Kentucky Highway 86 approximately one tenth of a mile north of Cecilia. Unit 1, a 1994 Chevy Cavalier operated by James Vann (a 26-year-old male from Vine Grove, KY), was heading north on highway 86 when witnesses stated Mr. Vann attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone. Unit 2, a 2004 Ford F-150 operated by Gregory Fraze (a 49-year-old male from Cecilia, KY) was headed south on highway 86. Mr. Fraze attempted to avoid Mr. Vann going off the shoulder of the roadway into the grass, Mr. Vann's vehicle also left the roadway and struck Mr. Fraze's vehicle head on. Both operators where transported by Hardin County EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The operator of unit 1, James Vann, was charged with driving under the influence, assault first degree, and wanton endangerment first degree. Trooper C.G. Perry is the investigating officer.
