Assault 1st Degree Arrest

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police received a call from the Todd County Sheriffs Department advising of a possibly assault involving a firearm. The Kentucky State Police responded to the scene where witnesses stated that an argument had broken out between Shane H. Cunningham and Derrick L. Mallory. During the argument Mr. Cunningham fired off one round from a .22 caliber handgun, striking Mr. Mallory in the left leg. Mr. Mallory was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN for a gunshot wound. Mr. Mallory is considered to be in critical condition. Mr. Cunningham was arrested without incident and lodged in the Todd County Jail on the charge of Assault 1st Degree.
