Murder Charge Result of Fatality Crash in Christian County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Thursday, December 10, 2009, troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville transported Martin O. Henriquez, age 41 of Wilmington, NC, from the Whiteville Correctional Facility in Whiteville, TN to the Christian County Detention Center. Mr. Henriquez was served with warrants charging him with murder and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aide. He was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center. The warrants were obtained in reference to a three-vehicle, fatality crash that occurred on Interstate 24 on April 28, 2009. Mr. Henriquez had been lodged in Tennessee on charges he received in Tennessee after leaving the scene of the fatal crash.

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Mr. Lonnie Anderson was operating a 2003 Ford Explorer Eastbound on Interstate 24. It has been determined during the investigation that his vehicle was struck by a 1999 International Semi, driven by Mr. Martin Henriquez. Mr. Henriquez's vehicle hit the Ford Explorer causing it to cross the median into the westbound lane. Once in the westbound lane the explorer hit a 2007 Kenworth driven by Mr. Kevin Wissell. The Ford hit the Kenworth head on, causing the Ford to cross the median again back into the eastbound lane. The Ford came to rest in the emergency portion of the eastbound lane. The Kenworth continued westbound on I-24 and ran off the right shoulder of the roadway into a field. The 1999 International driven by Mr. Henriquez continued eastbound on I-24 and did not stop at the scene. Mr. Henriquez traveled into Tennessee where he was involved in another accident. He was arrested by the Coopertown Police Department in Tennessee. The driver of the Ford Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other two vehicles were not injured. The accident is still under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
