KSP Post 2 Graduates First Citizens Police Academy Class

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville held its graduation for its first Citizens Police Academy at the Madisonville Community College. Lieutenant Colonel Brad Bates, Commander of the Technical Services Division, and Captain William Marks Jr., Commander of Post 2 Madisonville, were on hand to present the participants with their certificates. Major Ricki Allen, West Troop Commander, was also present at the ceremony.
The 11-week academy began on September 29 and concluded with its graduation on December 8. During the course of the academy, the twenty (20) participants learned about the many facets of the Kentucky State Police including patrol, traffic stops, collision investigations, commercial vehicle enforcement, criminal investigations, drug investigations, dispatching, the legal process, special operations, and Trooper Island. Participants also took part in simulated traffic stops and a mock crime scene. The class was treated to a tour of the Western Laboratory and the Post. The class met on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Madisonville Community College.
