One Injured in a Two Vehicle DUI Collision on US 62

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Sidney Coleman was operating a 1996 Ford Ranger westbound on US 62 traveling towards Dawson Springs. Patricia Hunt was operating a 2007 Toyota Camry eastbound on US 62. Mr. Coleman lost control of his vehicle causing it to turn sideways and cross into the eastbound lane of travel. The right, rear bumper of Mr. Coleman's truck struck the front bumper of Mrs. Hunt's vehicle. Following the impact, Mr. Coleman's vehicle exited the eastbound shoulder of the road, coming to rest in a ditch off the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Mr. Coleman was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants. Mr. Coleman was placed under arrest by KSP CVE Officer Chris Green and charged with DUI 1st, Expired KY Registration Receipt, Expired KY Registration Plate, Failure to Maintain Required Insurance 1st & Possession of Open Alcohol Container in Motor vehicle. He was transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center where he was processed and lodged. Mrs. Hunt was transported by ambulance to Regional Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Coleman was not wearing a seat belt. Mrs. Hunt was wearing a seat belt.
